What is endurance?
Endurance is the ability to withstand or persist through difficult conditions over an extended period of time. It requires both physical and mental strength. Endurance allows us to push past perceived limits and achieve more than we thought possible.
There are a few key aspects of endurance:
- Stamina - the ability to continue an activity for a prolonged period without getting too tired. Good stamina is built up over time through consistent training.
- Fortitude - the mental grit and determination to keep going even when conditions are tough or you feel like quitting. Pushing through discomfort requires strong fortitude.
- Resilience - the capacity to recover quickly and bounce back after setbacks. Resilient people don't dwell on failures but rather learn from them.
How can you build greater endurance?
Here are some tips:
- Training - Follow a regular training regimen tailored to your goals. Gradually increase duration and intensity over time. Allow proper rest and recovery between intense efforts.
- Fueling - Eat a balanced, nutritious diet and stay well hydrated before, during and after exercise. Good fueling habits provide the energy for endurance.
